As Jeff Vincent explained a couple of months ago in our conversation, “one day of hiking with somebody, you feel like you’ve known them for months and months” and it’s true. Jeff runs Catskill Mountain Wild, an outdoor guide business and he is also authorized to conduct marriages on top of mountains in what he calls “wild weddings”.
He is also conducting sunset hikes and last Friday we hiked to Inspiration Point at dusk, trekked back down in the dark and finished with beers in Tannersville.
Next week, July 31st, under the gaze of a full moon, he will be leading the group starting at the Overlook Mountain Trail in Woodstock at 6pm. Post-hike drinks will be had at the Commune Saloon on Tinker Street. Points of interest on this hike include a fire tower at the peak, views of the Ashokan Reservoir and Catskill’s Highest Peaks, and walking through ruins of an old mountain hotel. The hike will be 2.5 miles up and 2.5 miles back.
