Fall Festivals in the Catskills

On Friday October 7th from 4pm to 7pm on Main Street in Margaretville, come and enjoy a harvest festival with a range of activities including pumpkin carving with the Catskill Mountain Artisans’ Guild; demonstration on how to press your own cider apples; a costume parade and contest for adults, kids and dogs.

Union Grove Distillery will be offering samples of their vodka. Stick in the Mud will have waffle dogs as well as their super fun Belgian waffles on a stick. There will be chili and cornbread for sale from local chefs. Catskill Candies and Confections will offer samples of their chocolates. The Margaretville Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Shop will be open late and running a special bag sale.

Plein Air painter Alix Travis will be creating artwork depicting the evening’s activities. Entertainment will be provided by Ben Rounds. Stores will be open late as part of this First Friday event sponsored by the Business Association of Margaretville. Admission is free.

The Open Eye Theater is open for an Open Mic night: you supply the talent, they will supply the tech. Open Mic starts at 7pm and runs until 10pm. The Fall Festival will be held weather permitting. For additional information call 845 586-4177. Main Street, Margaretville, NY 12455.

Saturday October 8th, from 10am to 5pm: the Annual Fall Festival on Belleayre Mountain in Highmount. German fare food and beverages courtesy of Centerplate; live music; fall foliage sky rides; pumpkin decorating, and more. On sale at the Belleayre booth will be the popular 3-packs for $129. The 3-Packs consist of three unrestricted, Belleayre only lift tickets and are a once in year opportunity that can only be found at the Fall Festival.  Also on sale are SKI3 Frequent Skier Cards, Season Passes, Season Long Programming and the SKI3 Snow Sampler 4-Pack for $259.  The SKI3 Snow Sampler can be used at Belleayre, Gore or Whiteface Mountains. Saturday October 8th and Sunday October 9th, from Noon to 7pm on both days: Taste of the Catskills, a family-friendly event that showcases the food, beer, crafts, and wine of our region at a family run farm. Saturday’s events will culminate with a harvest dinner paired with Ommegang beer, prepared entirely from local ingredients. Weather permitting, there will be a bonfire following dinner. There will be “Farm Olympics”. This is a friendly team [three member] competition to see who is FARM STRONG!

There are lots of kid’s activities each day. The activities will highlight life on the farm. The Catskill Puppets are on the grounds both days with their larger than life creations. This year the Catskill Watershed Corporation is helping us bring a wonderful puppet show from Arm of the Sea about the creation of the New York City water supply system.

Workshops each day teach attendees tricks for farming, cooking and brewing. The main activities are held under tents and in the barn, so the show will go on RAIN OR SHINE. Maple Shade Farm, 2066 County Highway 18, Delhi, New York 13753.

Sunday October 9th from Noon to 4pm, Pine Hill is having a block party in Pine Hill, New York, featuring Keegan Ales, Catskill Brewery and Union Grove Distillery and live music. Main Street, Pine Hill, New York 12465.
